60 years of the Military Police marked
On this occasion, there was a parade of units of the Military Police, infantry and motorized echelon, as well as attractive displays of safety protection of persons in movement that was carried out by members of the "Cobras", action on abducted vehicle presented by members of the Battalion for anti-terrorist operations, and a display of the use of an official dog for special purposes.
Congratulating the holiday to all members of the Military Police, General Dikovic reminded of the significance and history of the unit, noting that its members perform specific tasks for which they have become recognizable, with a white belt and a black beret, because of their authority, professionalism and demands for compliance to regulations.
- Not everyone can be a military policeman, because belonging to the military police demands strength of character and high morals, great competence, excellent physical fitness and an unrivalled military discipline - General Dikovic said, adding members of the unit are the elite of the Serbian Armed Forces, selected among the chosen ones, whose task is to preserve and improve what generations of their colleagues created by investing knowledge, work and life.
According to him, military policemen carry the weight of important tasks, and behind them are the results they can be proud of. He pointed out that our military is ready to react at any time to protect the lives of citizens of Serbia and the country's security.
Representative of the Chief of the Military Police Colonel Obradovic said that since the establishment was founded in 1955 until today, this unit has been and still is an elite part of the Serbian military.
He stressed that, today, the Military Police is a highly trained, socially recognizable part of the Serbian Armed Forces, and that, by executing complex and responsible tasks, it gives full contribution to the preservation and improvement of functional and operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.

The guests at today's ceremony were able to see the technical and tactical assembly, display of martial arts of members of the "Cobras", and a display of training of service dogs.
The origins of the Military Police date from the time of Prince Milan Obrenovic, who ordered the creation of the first police departments in the brigades of the Army, and it was officially formed on 14 September, 1955, by the order of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of SFRY, as a separate unit in the Yugoslav People’s Army.
