Congress of the European Commission for Road Safety in the Armed Forces - ECRAF
The topic of this year’s Congress is "Regulatory framework in the field of training of drivers of military vehicles
At the today's meeting in Belgrade, after the opening statement of President of the Executive Board of ECRAF Major Arto Purkunen, participants were addressed by Chief of the General Logistics Department of the Material Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Stale Staletovic, and Major Aleksandar Gosic from the Traffic and Transportation Section of the General Logistics Department introduced the guests with our country and the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
Colonel Staletovic pointed out that the Ministry of Defence pays great attention to traffic safety, and that daily measures are taken to increase the security of military participants in traffic. He also pointed out that civil-military cooperation is also developed in this field, and that the Security Council of military participants formed had been formed, which defines the measures for improving the situation.
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia became a member of the Commission at the General Assembly of the 10th Congress held in 2011 in the Czech Republic. The importance of admission of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces to the European Commission for Road Safety in the Armed Forces is reflected in the participation of our members in activities conducted at European level implemented to improve traffic safety and to implement strategies to reduce casualties in road accidents in the armed forces, and especially in the exchange of "good practices" in the field of traffic safety between the armed forces of member states of ECRAF.
The European Commission for Road Safety in the Armed Forces (ECRAF) is an independent organization of experts from the armed forces of European countries established in 2002. The mission of this Commission is to promote road safety in the armed forces, both in Europe and in during participation in multinational missions and operations, and it consists of 27 countries.
Commander of the Logistics Training Centre Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Ljubic and battalion commander for the training of the transportation service Lieutenant Colonel Goran Dobric informed the delegates about the organization, tasks and capabilities of the Centre and the battalion, and then Chairman of the Executive Board of the ECREAF Committee Arto Purkinen and his colleagues visited the classrooms and training grounds.
The 19 delegates from 15 European countries were particularly interested in the visit to the training ground "Beranovac", where officers and soldiers displayed segments of training in field conditions and training at the training ground for future participants in multinational operations.
