Members of the Special Brigade in Exercise Slavic Brotherhood 2015



Members of the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces completed the final preparations in Russia for participation in the trilateral exercise Slavic Brotherhood 2015 to be held at the Rayevsky training area near Novorossiysk, begining today to continue until 5th September.

Slovensko bratstvo 2015Over 700 personnel, mostly paratroopers from Russia and Belarus including 60 members of the Serbian Armed Forces are participating in the exercise employing 20 helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft and about 100 other materiel.

In preparations for the exercise, over the past three days, firing from automatic rifle, preparing and packing parachute for jump and work in the staging area were conducted. During the exercise, jumps with Russian-made D-10 assault parachutes and special-purpose wing-type parachutes ARBALET-2.

Host of the exercise is the 7th Guards Airborne-Assault Division of the Airborne-Assault Army of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, specialised in mountain warfare, and the objective of the exercise is to prepare joint special force units in the detection and destruction of illegal armed groups.

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces are using Russian arms and equipment, for which some of the members of the Special Brigade were prepared as early as in the last year when they had training in parachute landing operations with Russian D-10 in the Airborne Assault Academy in Ryazan.

The main objective of joint military exercises and training with members of foreign armed forces is, above all, improvement of operational and functional capabilities of our army. This form of military cooperation largely contributes to the specific gain of experience in solving tactical and firing tasks, the implementation of anti-terrorist operations and preparation for participation in multinational operations.
