Return of injured biathlonist

Private 1st Class Milivoje Tijanic, the last member of the team of the Serbian Armed Forces that won the third place in the "Tank Biathlon 2015" held at the training ground Alabino near Moscow, arrived by plane from Moscow at the "Nikola Tesla" Airport, in the late evening.

As a tank driver, Private 1st Class Tijanic suffered minor injury of the lower spine in the semi-final race and was adequately taken care of at the Central Military Hospital in Moscow.

The injured Private 1st Class was welcomed at the "Nikola Tesla" Airport by Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic (who had also visited him at the Moscow hospital before going to the final competition at the Alabino training ground), Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic and Colonel Zeljko Kuzmanovic Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Brigade, who was the head of the national team at the event.

According to Colonel Kuzmanovic the injury occurred just after the start, some 300 meters away, at the obstacle called "Bridge". During the descent from that obstacle the tank hit the ground fiercely and bounced up, and Tijanic suffered vertebrae injury as he was severely hit. However, the brave soldier, despite the severe pain he had felt, succeeded in completing his task and driving the tank to the position so that the crew could continue the second part of the race. In this way he enabled the team of the Serbian Armed Forces to reach the finals of the Moscow biathlon.

Injured Milivoje Tijanic was transported from the "Nikola Tesla" airport to the Military Medical Academy, where he will be properly taken care of.
