Minister of Defence meets the US Ambassador

Defence Minister Bratisav Gasic spoke with the US Ambassador to Belgrade Michael Kirby about the bilateral military cooperation.

During the discussion Gasic pointed out that the defence cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and the United States is still dominant in relation to Serbia’s cooperation with its other partners across the world. This is corroborated by the fact that the bilateral military cooperation plan for the fiscal year 2016 provides for 127 joint activities excluding schooling of our members in the United States. Also, half of all international exercises our members have been taking part in are part of the bilateral military cooperation with the United States.

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces will continue to promote cooperation with the United States, Gasic said during the talks. The upcoming preparations and joint medical deployment of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard, first in Serbia and then in Angola will step it up.

Minister Gasic thanked the Ambassador Kirby for his personal contribution to the promotion of cooperation in the field of defence.

Also, Gasic and Kirby talked about the upcoming bilateral defence consultations as well as the realisation of meetings at the highest level.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Kirby invited Minister Gasic to jointly attend the ceremony of completion of works within the project "Humanitarian assistance" in Bujanovac and then to visit the collective centre for migrants in Presevo.
