Opening ceremony for the 5th CISM Challenge Cup in mountain running

With a parade of military delegations of the participating countries, in the course of the 6th CISM summer sports training camp - Kopaonik 2015, the 5th CISM Challenge Cup in mountain running was officially opened today.

Military athletes from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia and Romania will start tomorrow in front of Kopaonik "Konaci", and they will cross the distance of 8.8 km in the men's and 6 km in the women's competition.

Opening the event, Head of the Serbian delegation at CISM (International Military Sports Council) Brigadier General Sinisa Radovic, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, welcomed the visitors and wished athletes success in the upcoming race.

- This competition is a good opportunity to represent our Ministry as a good organizer and promoter of physical culture and sports in the Armed Forces. As every year, this competition and the summer camp at the 51st ski training area "Kopaonik" is realized by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in cooperation with partner institutions - General Radovic stressed.

He also reminded that CISM consisted of 134 countries, while Serbia had been its member since May 15, 2003, and that our military athletes had taken part in over 120 sporting events during that time.

The realization of the training camp and the competition in mountain running was supported by the Municipalities of Raska and Brus, Ski Resorts of Serbia, MK Resorts and NP Kopaonik, as well as the Athletic Federation of Serbia and the Association of Athletics Judges of Belgrade.
