Djordjevic and Brauksiepe on improving cooperation



State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic spoke today with Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Defence Ralph Brauksiepe about options for the improvement of cooperation in the field of defence.

Ђорђевић и Браукзипе о унапређењу сарадње Djordjevic and Brauksiepe agreed that the joint deployment of members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Germany in the EU mission in Mali was the pinnacle of present cooperation, and that this kind of engagement contributed to mutual understanding and establishment of trust. State Secretary Djordjevic stressed that Serbia greatly valued the engagement in multinational operations and informed Brauksiepe with the plans for the rest of the year.

- Serbia wishes to be an active factor in regional and world security and to prove itself as a serious partner of EU countries – Djordjevic said.

During the meting, they discussed cooperation with the European Defence Agency (EDA), and Serbia’s experience during its OSCE Chairmanship. Djordjevic stressed his expectation that the cooperation with EDA would advance the interoperability of Serbia with EU states, enable the improvement of national special purpose industry and research potentials of Serbian institutes, and technological modernization of the Armed Forces.

The interlocutors agreed that the cooperation with the German contingent within KFOR was fair and professional. State Secretary Djordjevic said that, for Serbia, KFOR was the most responsible for maintaining peace and security and the only partner of the Serbian Armed Forces.
