Memory of the heroes of the battle of Kosovo

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, accompanied by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic, with highest state and military honours, laid a wreath today at the Monument to Kosovo Heroes in Krusevac, in the course of the central manifestation of marking of the 626th anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo and St. Vitus Day.

Marking of St. Vitus Day began with the central ceremony at the St. Stephen Church in Krusevac, the endowment of Prince Lazar, and continued with the litany through the city centre, a part of which were MoD and SAF members who carried the casket with a part of Prince Lazar’s remains.

After the litany, the foundation stone was placed at Krusevac barracks Prince Lazar, and the cross for the church that will be built there was sanctified.

On the occasion of 626th anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo and the demise of the Serbs and Prince Lazar in the battle against the Ottoman army in Kosovo Polje in 1389, at the Monument to Kosovo Heroes in the centre of Krusevac, commemoration service was held for all Serbian victims from the Battle of Kosovo to this day.
