SAF contingent arrived from the Central African Republic
SAF members that had been deployed in providing medical healthcare for staff in UN mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the past six months arrived in Belgrade today. The 68 of them were welcomed at the Nikola Tesla Airport by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic.Minister Gasic welcomed the SAF members and thanked them for everything they had done to secure the conditions for the next rotations’ arrival.
- We thank them for that. In a way worthy of a Serbian soldier, with dignity, honour, professionalism and responsibility, they conducted their mission and proved that the Serbian soldier stands out from the rest in everything – Minister of Defence said.
According to him, it is very important for the Serbian Armed Forces to be engaged in ten missions, and he announced that our peacekeepers would be deployed in new missions this year, and stressed that we could expect over 670 SAF members in peacekeeping operations across the world, which “completes the diplomatic offensive of Serbia’s representation in the world, with the help of the Serbian Armed Forces”.
Contingent Commander Colonel Milivoje Pajovic is proud of the successfully conducted mission in the Central African Republic.- 195 days after, I am in Belgrade, and I would like to inform the Defence Minister and the Chief of the General Staff that in the Serbian Morava base in Bangui, 4,505 kilometers from Belgrade, the situation is regular. We have conducted a successful rotation between the first and the second contingent. Everyone is safe and healthy. The hospital is fully equipped. The past six months, we battled with equipping that was very difficult, because there is 70 days to the nearest port, from where medicines and medical materials are imported. Doctors from our second rotation can now use the full capacity to display the knowledge for which they are eagerly welcomed – Colonel Pajovic stressed.
The SAF members that will be deployed in the UN MINUSCA mission in the next six months left last night to the operation area.
