Minister Gasic spoke with Minister of Defence of Iraq
Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met his Iraqi counterpart Khaled al-Obaidi, who is heading the delegation attending the 7th International Armaments and Military Equipment Fair “Partner 2015”.Gasic and Al-Obeidi said that the two countries share traditionally friendly ties marked by no open issues, which constitutes an excellent foundation for further improvement of cooperation in the defence sector.
Gasic informed his Iraqi colleague about Serbia's intention to use the 7th International Armaments and Military Equipment Fair to present the potentials for cooperation in the area of defence technologies and work on joint projects in research, development and production sectors.
- I believe that the attendance of the Iraqi delegation at the Belgrade Fair will be useful and important, considering the number of presenters and their offer. Also, at the Fair, the Serbian defence industry is extensively presented with its technological and production capabilities, so we hope that this is a chance for establishing close business relations – Gasic said, adding that the increasing trend of participation of foreign delegations and their offers testified about the importance of the Partner manifestation.Minister Al-Obaidi stressed that the two countries' strategic partnership needs to get a full momentum through improvement of cooperation, including the defence sector, so as to reach the level of cooperation like the one maintained in the era of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
