Minister Gasics humanitarian gesture

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic visited today retired Senior Sergeant Nenad Vranjanac, user of the veterans disability pension at his home in Leskovac. Vranjanac had recently reached out to Minister of Defence because of a status issue, which, according to him, were a result of an administrative error.

Хумани гест министра ГашићаAfter the discussion where Vranjanac presented his situation, Gasic stressed that he could not alter the court’s decision that ordered Vranjanac to pay the debts to the Ministry of Defence, but that he could, in accordance to his authority, send a legal team that would find the proper legal solution. The remainder of the debt, as Minister Gasic stressed, would be settled by him with his personal means.

Addressing the reporters, Minister Gasic stressed that there were many such cases at MoD and SAF that need help, but that there were also many people that had unlawfully used certain remunerations, which had to be returned to the defence system after a certain time.

- We have found a solution in Nenad’s case, and I will personally pay for his debt, because I think he is severely ill. We must enable him to spend time in a proper spa, and the means have been allocated by SOVO Fund. Unfortunately, we have many such cases in SAF. The court has reached a decision and it is not mine to interfere, but this is a way for me to help – Minister Gasic said, adding that a legal team would visit Vranjanac in the next few days in order to further resolve his issue.

Responding to press inquiries about the upcoming Arms and Military Equipment Fair Partner 2015, Minister of Defence stressed that first delegations were expected to arrive tonight, including four defence ministries and 14 high delegations, and that the Fair would present over 120 national and international exhibitioners.

- We expect that, after so many year, Serbia will show its full potential when it comes to the special purpose industry. In 2015, we expect to see significant results in comparison to the previous period when it comes to arms and military equipment export – Minister Gasic stressed, adding that the export of the special purpose factory products was on the rise today, and that it was worth 270 million dollars a year, and that they expected this sum to become even larger.

According to him, visitors will have the opportunity to see several new items at the Fair that had been adopted by the Military Technical Institute and special purpose factories in the past period.
