Prevented abuses in the Ministry of Defence



In cooperation with the authorized prosecutor’s offices and related services, since the beginning of 2014, the Military Security Agency has filed five law suits and one amendment to a law suit, which included a total of 24 persons (11 MoD and SAF members and 13 civilians).

Four cases of corruption were intercepted, in the fields of sales of surplus arms, arm procurement, healthcare and resolution to housing issues. Four law suits have been filed and one amendment to a law suit against a total of 18 persons. After the law suits were accepted, the authorized prosecutor’s office made orders on the start of investigations and charges are expected to be raised.

Minister of Defence made the decision on ending of procurement of medical material, which prevented the attempt of certain persons to conduct the said procurement without the application of the Law on Public Procurements worth 114.5 million dinars. Attempts of certain companies to attain privileged position against the competition through procurement of medical appliances, worth several hundred million dinars, have also been prevented.

Moreover, organs of the Military Police are determining facts about a certain number of persons that have received apartments in the so-called “Cvecara” residential area, even though they possessed real estate, property of the Military Housing Fund.

A case of crude oil stealing was intercepted, after it had been determined that a tank, property of a private company, which had transported crude oil for the needs of certain MoD organizational units, had a hidden compartment of about 4 tons. The overall damage is currently being assessed.
