Members of the French Parliament visiting Serbia



State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic met today with representatives of the France-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of France, headed by Head of the Group Martine Carrillon-Couvreur.

Француски посланици у посети СрбијиDuring the meeting, they discussed the present cooperation between the defence ministries of the two countries, and main Serbia’s dedications in the policy of national security and defence.

State Secretary Djordjevic stressed the readiness of the Republic of Serbia to contribute to construction and improvement of its national, regional and global security under the United Nations, European and other international organizations. As he said, that is why Serbia greatly values joint training and deployment in ATALANTA operation with France, under the auspices of the European Union.

He stressed that, implementing its defence policy, the Republic of Serbia builds and strengthens mechanisms of democratic civilian control of the military and the transparency of defence business, as important conditions for a democratic society, and restated that Serbia is firmly committed to defend its interests in a peaceful way, with dialogue and desire to maintain good neighbourly relations with the countries in the region.

State Secretary thanked the representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for everything they had done to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries. Both sides concluded that the overall development of relations would greatly benefit from the visit of French Minister of Defence Jean-Yves Le Drian to Serbia this year.
