Minister Gasic met with the Ambassador of Greece



Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and the Ambassador of Greece Konstantinos Ikonomidis stated that the traditionally good cooperation between the two countries was an excellent foundation for further improvement of the military cooperation.

Bratislav Gasic stressed that new security challenges, risks and threats in the form of terrorism, economic and energetic dependency, and uncontrolled migration of people from crisis areas are another reason for even firmer connections between the countries in the region. Minister of Defence reminded that regional cooperation was one of the foreign policy priorities of our country, and that Serbia’s goal was to be the initiator of good relations and the key promoter of stability.

During the meeting, they stated that Serbia’s active engagement in the concept of EU Common Security and Defence Policy had improved the foreign political position of the state, and that one of our priorities for the next period would be the improvement of capacities for more active cooperation, and participation in EU operations for crisis management and development of joint projects with the European Defence Agency.

Minister Gasic stressed that Serbia was committed to dialogue and that it would keep supporting peaceful resolutions of issues, especially bearing in mind Serbia’s OSCE chairmanship, which is a great acknowledgement, but also a great responsibility in times of serious security challenges that Europe is currently facing.
