Minister Gasic at the annual session of the city organization of Association of retired noncommissioned officers
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic attended today the annual session of the city organization of Association of retired noncommissioned officers of Serbia Nis in Nis.Minister Gasic said that associations of NCOs, officers and reserve military senior personnel were of great importance because their experiences could significantly improve the operative and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces. He also stressed that all the associations would soon have their office in Belgrade.
Gasic stated that it would be the best to unify the work of the associations, around 250 of them, so the experience of their members could improve the operative and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.
- I understand the bitterness of officers and NCOs for the 11.6 % increase in pensions, but, as you know, the SOVO Fund was transferred to the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund in 2008 and that the issue has not been resolved. We at the Government of Serbia agree that it is necessary to increase pensions and to that effect, a workgroup has been formed, which is headed by Minister Vujovic – Minister Gasic said, adding that a resolution acceptable for everyone must be found.Minister Gasic accepted the initiative of the Head Board of the Nis Association of retired noncommissioned officers of Serbia to erect a monument to the first Serbian pilot Sergeant Mihajlo Petrovic. He also thanked the members of the Nis Military Orchestra for representing Serbia in the Peace March in Kiev.
President of the Head Board of the Nis Association of retired noncommissioned officers of Serbia Milorad Petkovic thanked Minister for attending the annual session, and reminded that the association had been fighting for the vested rights of retired noncommissioned officers for nine years.
