Army team winner of the 6th SAF Sports Championship
With the announcement of winners and handover of acknowledgements for the achieved results, today, at Duke Zivojin Misic barracks, the 6th Sports Championship of the Serbian Armed Forces was ceremonially closed. The overall winner of the championship was the Army team, to whom Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic congratulated on the success during the handover of the victory cup trophy.He said that Valjevo had witnessed a sports manifestation that had shown the will of SAF members to achieve best results in the best way, and that it had contributed to the popularization of sports and strengthening of operative capabilities of our military through sports and physical training.

noble “fair-play”, where military and sports virtues overlap – the persistence that overcomes obstacles, the discipline that knows no exceptions, loyalty to the collective that overpowers personal gain and dedication to the goal that obeys the rules – General Draganic said.On behalf of the organizer of the championship, Commander of the Training Command Lieutenant General Djokica Petrovic commended all participants and stressed that the competition “has preserved the tradition of sports and chivalric spirit of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces”.
- I would also like to stress the equal participation of our female members, who have achieved very good results, and outdid their colleagues in some of the disciplines. We can be proud of the fact that no competitors were injured during the championship and that there were no violated propositions or other irregularities – General Petrovic said, wishing the winners to confirm the achieved success and great results in future competitions.
Teams of the Army, General Staff, Air Force and Air Defence, Training Command and the Ministry of Defence competed at sports venues and training grounds.
After the 5-day competition, the second place overall was won by the team of the Training Command, and the third by the MoD team. The athletes competed in seven sports competitions – judo, volleyball, futsal, athletics, orienteering, shooting, and military track and field.Winner in the most difficult military discipline – military track and field was the team of the Training Command, and the best individual score was won by Staff Sergeant Dalibor Andjelkovic, Army member.
