President Nikolic and General Dikovic discuss the security situation in the region

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic spoke today with Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic about the current security situation in the region, and the preparedness of SAF to act adequately and prevent any possibility of tragic events similar to those in Macedonia.

President Nikolic stressed that it is the SAF’s responsibility, accordingly to its obligations proscribed by the Constitution and the Law, to prevent at any cost any attempt of destabilization of the Republic of Serbia and endangerment of security of its citizens, all the while protecting the security of every SAF member. In cooperation with other security structures of the Republic of Serbia, the Serbian Armed Forces has already taken measures that should prevent the conflicts from the region to reach the territory of our country.

President Nikolic said that Serbia had been warning its EU partners that it was only a matter of time before the Albanian terrorist groups, encouraged by the proclamation of independence of the so-called Republic of Kosovo, try to implement their plans of creation of “Greater Albania”, and that the latest events were only the confirmation of that. However, it is still not too late for EU to fully and categorically take the position on the Albanian terrorism, to unreservedly condemn it and to stand in protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the region.
