National echelon returned to Serbia

The SAF national echelon that participated in the Parade of Victors on 9th May in Moscow on the occasion of 70 years since the victory over fascism returned to Serbia today. At Batajnica Airport, our members were welcomed by Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic and Guard Commander Major General Milomir Todorovic with associates.

Most members of our national echelon stressed that they would remember the participation in the parade for a very long time. Commander of the Guard Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Vukajlovic said that he was proud that the SAF members had justified the trust of the military and state authorities.

“It was all truly impressive. The hosts welcomed us with much respect and care, and we have also made friends with many colleagues from other countries, especially army members from Mongolia, China and India with whom we practiced. The day of the parade is something you remember your entire life. I am extremely happy that the people in Serbia had the opportunity to see our performance and that the reactions are positive”, Vukajlovic said.

The SAF national echelon was unique at the parade not only for its unique marching step, but also for the fact that it was the only formation that included women – Lieutenant Aleksandra Misic and Private Tijana Matovic from the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces.

75 SAF members marched to the sounds of “Katyusha” on the Red Square. The echelon performed in ceremonial blue uniforms with M-59/66 semi-automatic rifles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the commanders of the units that participated in the Parade, including Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Vukajlovic, to whom he thanked for how the SAF members worthily represented Serbia.
