No greater honour than this parade

Participants of the Parade are having their last preparations and rehearsals before the Victory Day, and our soldiers said in an interview with television B92 that there is no bigger honor than being in Moscow on this occasion.

The elite echelon of the Serbian Armed Forces is marching on the Red square. It is led by Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Vukajlović.

”I think it is the dream of every soldier, not only in Serbia, but also in the world to participate in the Russian Victory day parade where the fall of fascism is being celebrated. I am sure that there is not a single soldier in Serbian armed forces that would not want to be in the skin of the members of the unit that has came to Moscow'', Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Vukajlovic, Guard Battalion Commander, stressed, adding that there are also two women among the Serbian soldiers.

The marches like ”Katyusha'' and “Slavyanka'' will be played tomorrow, but the only thing that matters for the soldiers is the tempo and the drum beat.

The march of Serbian army is different from the marches of any nations participating in the parade.

“Their tempo is about 120 to 125 footsteps in a minute, while the tempo of Serbian march is 100 to 116 footsteps. There are no tricks, we are simply more physically prepared and we can mainly follow that with no problems”, Vukajlovic said.

The SAF national echelon of 72 Guard members and a member of the Air Forces General Staff, an Army member and a member of the Training Command met with the B92 team in front of the Central Armed Forces Museum, where they received medals for participation in the ceremonial parade.

They have been in Moscow since 25th of April, and although they spent the most time training, individually and with other echelons, they also managed to see the Russian capital.

“We have also been in a lot of museums, in Kremlin, and have taken a boat tour around Moscow, so we have seen Moscow, perhaps not in its entirety, but the larger part of it”, Vukajlovic stressed.

The unit has met with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic in the Serbian Embassy in Moscow.

The SAF national echelon will be marching in ceremonial blue uniforms with M-59/66 semi-automatic rifles. Judging by the rehearsal, they will march to the song “Katyusha''.
