Seeing off SAF members to the exercise in Germany




One hundred members of the infantry company of the 31st infantry battalion of the Third Army Brigade that will take part in the exercise “Combined Resolve” in Germany have been seen off today at Nikola Pasic barracks in Zajecar.

The infantry company will participate in the exercise organized by the European Command of the US Armed Forces from 9th May to 4th June.

The theme of the exercise is “Conducting peace support operations in the formation of joint forces” with the goal of improving interoperability and mutual understanding of army members of partner countries in realization of peace support operations in multinational environment.

Head of Training Command of the Serbian Armed Forces Colonel Dejan Petkovic said that the exercise would be attended by 4,400 members of foreign armed forces from 11 NATO countries and members of the Partnership for Peace Programme.

- In the past five years, we have participated in 10 similar exercises with units at platoon level, and now, for the first time, we are taking part with a unit at company level. The previously acquired experience tells us that we should continue participating in such activities – Colonel Petkovic said, adding that, through joint exercises, SAF members raise the level of preparedness for responding to threats to security and contribute to development of mutual trust and strengthening of security in the world.

Captain Vladica Stankovic, Commander of the infantry company that will participate in the exercise, stressed that the exercise would be an opportunity for the unit to exchange practices with members of foreign armed forces and improve operative capability of the unit.

At the Multinational Training Command's Hohenfels Training Center, one hundred members of the 31st infantry battalion from Zajecar will practice steps and procedures in offence and defence operations, combat in urban conditions, evacuation of the wounded and driving Humvee terrain vehicles. The infantry company of the Third Brigade will be in formation of a multinational battalion together with their colleagues from the Czech Republic and Croatia.
