Minister Gasic visited the shooting ground Bubanj Potok
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic visited today the automatized training shooting ground "Bubanj Potok" to check the realization of works on the arrangement of this military object that had been destroyed during the NATO bombing in 1999. Since then, the miniature shooting ground of armored units had not been cleared, until the decision of Minister of Defence based on which the Training Command had taken up measures in clearing the terrain and objects.After visiting the shooting ground, accompanied by Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic, Commander of the Training Command Lieutenant General Djokica Petrovic and Chief of Defence Technologies Department Major General Bojan Zrnic, Minister Gasic announced that, when it comes to SAF objects, everything that had been destroyed in the bombing of 1999 would be cleared by the end of June.
- In the past month and a half, the Armed Forces has done a lot here as well, and for this I am thankful to all SAF members – Minister said, conveying his belief that, after all necessary permits were obtained, the clearing of the remaining part of the building of the bombed General Staff would soon begin.
In April, two constructions of Bailey bridge and five objects damaged in the NATO bombing were disassembled at the automatized shooting ground Bubanj Potok. SAF units have cleared and leveled 5,6 hectares of terrain, constructed two 500 meters long drain canals; 1300 meters of river have been cleared, and waste has been removed from the shooting ground.
The key goal of these activities, with 1,375,000 dinars invested, was to secure successful prevention of frequent floods by channeling the riverbed. According to Commander of the Training Command Lieutenant General Djokica Petrovic, this goal has been achieved with minimal resources spent.
