The Armed Forces returning to the barracks in Surdulica

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic visited today the abandoned barracks Vlasina in Surdulica, where he was presented with the capacities and objects of the barracks by Commander of the 4th Army Brigade General Zoran Lubura.

According to Minister Gasic, intensive work is under way in order to pass all necessary acts as soon as possible and to exclude the Surdulica barracks formally and legally from the Master Plan.

- These objects are some of the best we have in Serbia, but they have been abandoned since 2010, perhaps even earlier. The entire barracks is abandoned, even though it was overall repaired after the 1999 bombing and good conditions were created for housing of SAF members. In the next few months, we will look into what needs to be done, in order for us to make a rough estimate for it – Minister said and expressed his hope that SAF members would return to Surdulica by the end of 2015 or in early 2016.
