Meeting of Executive Committee of the European Commission for Road Safety in the Armed Forces



Work meeting of the European Commission for Road Safety in the Armed Forces (ECRAF) was held at the General Logistics Department, for preparation for the upcoming XIV Commission Congress that will be held in September in our country.

Састанак Извршног комитета Европске комисије за безбедност саобраћаја у оружаним снагамаThe meeting, which was headed by President of the Executive Committee Finnish Major Arto Purkunen, was attended by members of the Executive Committee: Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ernes Heleg, Norwegian Lieutenant Colonel Frode Grønningsæter, representative of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces Major Aleksandar Gosic, MSci, and First Lieutenant Kevin De Medts from Belgium, Secretary of the Commission.

The European Commission for Road Safety in the Armed Forces is an independent organization of experts from Armed Forces of European countries, established in 2002 when it separated from PRI – La Prévention Routière Internationale, with the goal of achieving easier exchange of ideas, initiatives and campaigns in the field of road safety between Armed Forces of European countries. This Commission’s mission is to promote road safety in Armed Forces in Europe and during deployments in multinational missions and operations. With the exchange of ideas, analysis of road safety and development of recommendations, the Commission aims to adopt examples of “good practices” and standardize the procedures in managing road safety in Armed Forces. The Commission consists of 26 member states with the right to vote and Israel as an observer country.

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia became a member of the Commission at the General Assembly of X Congress held in 2011 in the Czech Republic. It is estimated that representatives of 20 member countries will participate in the upcoming Congress in September.
