SAF members departed for Moscow

Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) Chief of Staff General Ljubisa attended the ceremonial farewell of a SAF Guard unit as it departed for Moscow for the May 9 military parade, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II.

The farewell of the Serbian soldiers, noncommissioned officers and officers that will prepare for the ceremonial march on the Red Square for the next two weeks in Russia was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin.

75 SAF members departed for Moscow, including 72 Guard members (two women) and 1 member of the Army, Air Forces and Air Defence, and the Training Command each. Commander of the SAF National Echelon Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Vukajlovic, Commander of the Guard Battalion, said that the SAF members are leaving to Moscow after two weeks of preparations, ready to display the level of their professional and line capability on the Red Square.

- We will take part in the parade as a part of a single echelon, which is not a problem for us, considering our daily tasks. We have prepared a lot during the recent preparations for the marking of 200 years since the Second Serbian Uprising and the Serbian Armed Forces Day, so we will mostly work on synchronization with other sub-echelons in Russia. SAF members will wear their ceremonial uniforms, with semi-automatic M 59/66 rifles – Lieutenant Colonel Vukajlovic said.
