Honorary salvo on the Serbian Armed Forces Day

On the occasion of marking the Serbian Armed Forces Day – 23rd April, today at the Sava terrace at Kalemegdan a salvo of ten volleys from six pieces of artillery was fired.

With the raising of the state flag ad sounding of the anthem of the Republic of Serbia, performed by the Cadet Choir of the Military Academy, began the now traditional ceremony at the capital’s fortress.

The firing, performed by the Ceremonial battalion of the SAF Guard under the command of Artillery Lieutenant Colonel Branko Ljeskovic, was attended by numerous citizens of Belgrade who received the Guard members with applause.

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces are marking the Serbian Armed Forces Day with a number of activities this year as well. The central ceremony, which is also marking two centuries since the Second Serbian Uprising led by Milos Obrenovic, will be held in Takovo today.
