Funds allocated for military aircraft

The Government of the republic of Serbia has reached the decision today on allocating added means to the Ministry of Defence of 600 million dinars that will be used for procurement of reserve parts, overhaul and extending the lifespan of MiG-29 and MiG-21 aircraft.

The Government decision followed after the Easter visit of the President of the Government to Batajnica Airport and the analysis of the state of the Air Force and Air Defence. With this, the promise given by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Sunday was fulfilled after four days.

The current visit of Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic to Moscow and the talks with the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu will contribute to swift implementation of this Government decision.

Added means to the Ministry of Defence are allocated as a temporary solution until the procurement of new aircraft for the Air Force and Air Defence takes place.
