Tour of Susnjak base in the Ground Safety Zone



Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic, accompanied by Army Commander Major General Milosav Simovic and 3rd Brigade Commander Brigadier General Mile Jelic, visited today Susnjak base in the Ground Safety Zone, in area of responsibility of the 3rd Army Brigade.

On this occasion, the rapport was given by Base Commander Captain Bojan Stankovic who introduced Minister Gasic with the activities and conducted tasks in the sector of Susnjak base.

In accordance with the customs of the Easter holidays, after the tour of the base, the rest of the visit was spent in talks with members that are deployed in the base and in egg tapping with eggs Minister Gasic had brought for them. They discussed ways and possibilities of improving the life and work of SAF members at the base, and improving the financial state of all members of the defence system.

The Ground Safety Zone (GSZ) spreads along the administrative line of the Republic of Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija (KiM), with total 382 kilometers in length and 5 kilometers in width. It is divided to Sector A (from the state border with the Republic of Montenegro to the area between SAF bases “Mrca” and “Trmka”), B (from the area between SAF bases “Mrca” and “Trmka” to the area between SAF bases “Karaula” and “Trsten”), and B1 (from the area between SAF bases “Karaula” and “Trsten” to the state border with the Republic of Macedonia).
