A visit from the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Tunisia



Upon the invitation of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, a five-member delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Tunisian Republic, headed by Senior Colonel Abdelkader Adouni, is paying an official visit to the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia.

Посета делегације Министарства одбране ТунисаThe goal of the visit is to design the in Agreement on cooperation the field of defence between the two ministries, and to learn about production program of the Defence Industry and capacities of military educational and military medical institutions of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.

Today, Battleship Captain Milan Konjikovac, Head of the International Military Cooperation department spoke with the representatives of the Ministry of Defence of the Tunisian Republic, and the meeting was also attended by Ambassador of the Tunisian Republic in Belgrade H. E. Majid Hamlaoui.

It was stressed that the good political relations between the two countries provide an excellent basis for development and improvement of cooperation in the field of defence, and that there is mutual interest for further improvement of the cooperation.

Battleship Captain Konjikovac informed the Ambassador and the Tunisian delegation about foreign policy priorities of our country, about the activities of the Ministry of Defence in the EU accession process, and about the measures taken for improvement of capacities and capabilities for Serbia’s chairing over OSCE and deployment in multinational operations.

The necessity was stressed for swift conclusion of the Agreement on cooperation the field of defence between the Republic of Serbia and the Tunisian Republic, which would provide legal framework for future cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.

They stated that there are significant possibilities for expansion of bilateral military cooperation between the two defence ministries, especially in the fields of military education, military medicine and military economic cooperation.

Battleship Captain Konjikovac conveyed that the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia would aim to respond to all needs and requirements of the Tunisian side, in accordance with available capacities.

Considering the mutually expressed interest for improvement and intensification of bilateral military cooperation, Battleship Captain Konjikovac assessed that it would be very important to use the opportunity to present the Tunisian defence delegation with production programs of the Defence Industry of Serbia and the capacities of military educational and military medical institutions of the Ministry of Defence.

At the end of the meeting, both sides again confirmed their commitment to establishing and further developing cooperation in the field of defence.
