Seeing off the autonomous team for protection of ships to Atalanta misson




Today, at the Military House in Nis, a ceremony was held today on the occasion of seeing off the third autonomous team for protection of ships from the formation of the Special Army Brigade that will be deployed in the operation of Atalanta UN Naval forces.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Army Commander Brigadier General Zelimir Glisovic, Commander of the Special Army Brigade Colonel Zoran Velickovic, families and friends of the future peacekeepers, and other guests.

For the third time, the Special Brigade refers an autonomous team for protection of ships to the Atalanta multinational operation.

Deputy Army Commander Brigadier General Zelimir Glisovic handed the state flag of the Republic of Serbia to Commander of the Third autonomous team for protection of ships Lieutenant Mladen Stamenkovic, and stated that members of the team should carry and guard it with pride.

- I assure you that the members of the Third autonomous team for protection of ships in the Atalanta multinational operation justify the trust and that the flag of Serbia will proudly flaunt in the mission – Lieutenant Stamenkovic responded.

Professional members of the Special Army Brigade that will in two days conduct tasks in the EU operation in the Gulf of Aden, their families and families were greeted by Brigadier General Zelimir Glisovic who said: “Currently, there are 213 Army members in UN and EU zones of operation in Cyprus, Lebanon, Congo, Somalia, Ivory Coast and the central African republic. SAF members began their deployment in Atalanta operation in April, 2012, with the referral of the first autonomous team for protection of ships. I a pleased to say that we are proud of the results the Army members have achieved in this operation, which is also proved by the recognitions we have received by the EU Naval forces. I expect of all the members of the autonomous team to respond to all challenges and worthily represent the Republic of Serbia and our military”.


Commander of the Third autonomous team for protection of ships Lieutenant Mladen Stamenkovic stated that the team is fully prepared for conducting tasks and that all the members readily await to prove themselves in the large and complex peacekeeping mission, while Ensign Goran Jenackovic stressed that his wife, daughter and son are proud that their husband and father will be a part of the multinational operation that is very important for our state and military.
