The course "Gender in multinational operations" began at the Peacekeeping Operations Center




The course, organized for the fourth year in a row, was opened today at the Peacekeeping Operations Center by Deputy Commander of the Joint Operative Command Major General Slavoljub Janicijevic.

The opening was attended by Colonel Nikola Dejanovic, representative of the Head of the Peacekeeping Operations Center, advisor to the Minister of Defence for gender equality Jovanka Saranovic, PhD, Milos Strugar, former Deputy Chief of Mission of UNIFIL, representatives of the UNDP/SEESAC Office and Filip Ejdus, professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences.

The five-day course will be attended by 17 MoD and SAF members, two students of the Faculty of Security Studies and two students of the Faculty of Political sciences. In the next five days, they will have the opportunity to acquire skills for duties in multinational operations, in accordance with UN, EU and NATO standards, concerning matters of gender perspective.

This year, among others, lecturers for the course are: Milos Strugar, Rana Rahal, gender advisor in UN mission in Lebanon, and Jovanka Saranovic, PhD, and there will be live video lecture by Head of the Peacekeeping Operations Center Colonel Milivoje Pajovic, who is currently deployed as commander of the Serbian contingent in MINUSCA mission, and the gender advisor in this mission.

The course will also include guest lecturers from the Office of the UN Development Program in Belgrade.

Lecture of the gender advisor in UNIFIL mission will also be attended by the key staff of the SAF contingent that will be referred to this mission during the next rotation.
