Improving cooperation with the United States

Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic spoke with Deputy US Ambassador Gordon Duguid about possibilities for further improvement of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence.

Djordjevic and Duguid stated that the key fields of cooperation remain unchanged: participation in international exercises organized by the European Command of the US Armed Forces, the state partnership program with the National Guard of Ohio that also includes the development of the Training Center for units for multinational operations at South base, the educational program and staff training, modernization and new equipment, and the work of the Serbia – US Mixed Committee for matters of the reform of the defence system.

They expect that the Bilateral Defence Consultation in June this year will contribute to determining further strategic guidelines for military cooperation between the two countries, and the joint deployment of medical teams of the Armed forces of Serbia and the National Guard of Ohio will certainly be one of the key topics.

Secretary of State Djordjevic stressed that the development of cooperation between the two countries is equally improved by the Human Assistance Project and the by the fact that one US officer is attending the Command and Staff Course at the National Defence School this year.
