Safest MoD and SAF drivers announced



Проглашени најбезбеднији возачи у Министарству одбране и Војсци СрбијеAt the multimedia hall of the Material Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence, during the first session of the Council for safety of military road users today, the safest drivers in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in 2014 were pronounced. Acknowledgements were awarded for the eleventh time in a row.

Attendants of the session were greeted by representative of Assistant Minister of Defence for MAetrial Resources Major General Prof. Dr. Bojan Zrnic, who stressed that, when it comes to safety of military road users, the past year had been much better than 2013, because there had been no causalties in military traffic accidents, and four SAF and MoD members had been killed outside military vehicles, which is two less than in 2013.

- This was achieved thanks to safety measures conducted in the defence system – General Zrnic said, stressing the importance of signing of the Memorandum on cooperation with NIS Company in the field of traffic safety which had already given concrete activities that had already started being conducted.

Acknowledgements and awards for safest drivers in 2014 were presented to: in the category of drivers – noncommissioned officers: Ensign First Class Slobodan Andric, from Military Police Battalion Cobras, with 34,813 km of travel without traffic accidents and violations; in the category of drivers – professional soldiers: Corporal Ognjen Popovic, driver at the Command Company of the Command Battalion of the Training Command, with 28,687 km without traffic accidents or violations; lastly, in the cathegory of drivers – civilians: Vlastimir Milenkovic, from the Military Construction Institution “Beograd”, with as much as 72,799 km without traffic accidents and violations.

Проглашени најбезбеднији возачи у Министарству одбране и Војсци СрбијеThe session continued with the analysis of traffic safety in Serbia and the analysis of the safety state of military road users, and activities that had been conducted in this field in the past year. Among the particularly important ones were: the Rulebook on safety of military road users that had been adopted, the procurement of software for implementation and testing of drivers’ knowledge, development of civilian-military and international cooperation in the field of traffic safety and transportation of dangerous load.

After the analysis, they stated the foundations for devising of the Strategy of safety of military road users for the period 2016-2020, which is planned to be adopted by the end of 2015. Another activity planned for this year is working on making the new Rulebook on using military vehicles and other manuals based on prescribed regulations.
