Day of the Military Academy marked



The ceremony on the occasion of marking the Day of the Military Academy was held at General Jovan Miskovic barracks in Belgrade today.

The celebration was attended by Assistant Minister for Human Resources Milos Jankovic, Dean of the University of Defence Major General Mladen Vuruna, Army Commander Major General Milosav Simovic, Deputy Commander of the Training Command Brigadier General Jelesije Radivojevic, students of the Advanced Security Studies and other guests.


Addressing the guests, Head of the Military Academy Major General Goran Zekovic reminded of the rich history of the military educational institution and of the tradition of military education in Serbia of 165 years, whose development was an inseparable part of the process of creation of the modern Serbian state.

Head of the Military Academy stressed that these unlimited sources of tradition are also used by today’s teachers and commanders of the Military Academy that teach and educate new generations of students, cadets and officers.

- The Military Academy strives towards its rational upgrade, with the goal of professional, financial and organizational integration into the University of Defence. Moreover, the Military Academy is dedicated to use the cooperation with the General Staff of Serbia to improve programs of military training of cadets in order to appropriately train future noncommissioned officers in troops and make them fully competent for conducting their first formation duties – General Zekovic stressed.

Acknowledgments were awarded for results achieved in the past period. The best department of the Military Academy in the past year is the Department of Military Electronic Engineering, the best teacher – Captain Mihael Bucko, MSc, and the best scientific worker Lieutenant Colonel Boban Bondzulic, MSc, while the best skills teacher is Colonel Rade Slavkovic, PhD.

The best cadet of the 136th class is Bojana Regodic, cadet Lazar Stojnic in the 137th, Cadet Milan Stevanovic in the 138th, Dejan Malidza in the 139th, and the best civilian student is Momir Markovic. The best teacher of the Military Highschool is meths teacher Anka Kesic, and the best student of teh Military Highschool is Mladen Sebek.

As recognition for the successful cooperation, Head of the Military Academy Major General Goran Zekovic presented a letter of thanks to the Training Command. Deputy Commander of the Training Command, Brigadier General Jelesije Radivojevic, received the letter of thanks.

The marking of the Day of the Military Academy ended with a ceremonial march of members of the Cadet Brigade.
