Meeting of Gasic and Kirby
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic met today with US Ambassador in Belgrade Michael Kirby who, at the beginning of the talks, extended his condolences of the US Government to the families of the killed, the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia for the tragic loss of the members of the Armed Forces of Serbia.Minister Gasic said that this was a great tragedy and a severe loss, not only for the Ministry and the Armed Forces, but for all citizens of Serbia.
During the meeting, they discussed further improvement of bilateral military cooperation and deployment of MoD and SAF members in multinational operations, and especially the deployment of the military medical capacities of our country. The two interlocutors assessed positively the recent visit of the Commander of Allied Joint Forces Command Naples, Admiral Mark Ferguson.
Gasic and Kirby discussed the continuation and further development of cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the United States, particularly in the domain of organization and participation in joint exercises and training, development of the Training Center for units for multinational operations at the South base, continuation of cooperation in programs of further training and education of MoD and SAF members, GPOI and FMF programs for modernization and procurement of new equipment , and many other joint projects.
At the meeting at the Ministry of Defence, one of the topics discussed was the new proposition of aid and support of the US Government in relation to solution to surplus arms and military equipment, which had been recognized as a security issue of the entire region.
