Education for English language teachers



In accordance with the planned activities of PELT program (Partnership Project for English Language Training according to STANAG 6001 standard), at Park Hotel in Ruma, a three-day international seminar was held, titled “Teaching methods and making lesson materials and courses for listening skills in the English language via a combination of traditional methods and contemporary information technologies” for English language teachers form the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia.

The seminar was organized in cooperation of PELT Direction of the Human Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence and British Council in Belgrade, with appropriated financial means of donor countries of PELT program (the Kingdom of Norway, Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and US).

Aside from English language teachers from the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, the seminar was also attended by English language instructors from the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and English language teachers from the Training Center of Montenegro.

The goal of the seminar was a methodical technical preparation of English language teachers in adopting new methods of designing courses with combining the classical teaching approach (Blended Learning Course Design) with distance learning for a more efficient realization of semi-intensive and intensive courses that are a part of the training cycle for members of the Armed Forces of Serbia for testing according to STANAG 6001.

Based on cooperation on PELT program, the lectures at the seminar were organized and realized by the Bristih Council in Belgrade with Professor Robert Buckmaster from the Great Britain, an expert in the field of training and testing knowledge of the English language for members of armed forces and a qualified PEP (Peacekeeping English Project) Manager of the British Council.
