Art exhibition by Lieutenant Colonel Ljubisa Simonovic at the Home of the Air Force
Tonight, at the “Ikar” Gallery of the Home of the Air Force in Zemun, the first independent exhibition of fine art by Lieutenant Colonel Ljubisa Simonovic was opened, titled “For old age in crags”. It features 39 paintings of different format, painted in oil and acrylic paint on canvas, glass and plywood.Due to noble dedication of Lieutenant Colonel Simonovic, the exhibition is humanitarian in character, in order to help those who need the help the most – lonely and elderly people who live with or without their life companions in mountain crags and decrepit houses in poorest municipalities in the Republic of Serbia, forgotten by all in the moments when they need them the most. As the author said: “If age is everyone’s, and it is… than it is our warning, which is the main purpose of this humanitarian exhibition”.
MA in art history Jazmina Klanica, permanent associate of the Home of the Air Force said that Simonovic had found the inspiration for his works in what he knows and loves the most – his native area near Prokuplje, in, as the author said, most beautiful streams, fields, hills… She stressed that the main focus of the artist is village scenery, dressed in colorful cloth of different seasons, and that it is particularly evident that the author prefers winter motifs.
The guests were also addressed by the author of the exhibition, and the atmosphere of rustic landscapes was depicted all the more vividly with the performance of Svetlana Stevic, folklore singer of Serbian customs and tradition who performed the songs “Tija malo” and “Sto va gora na bozur mirise”.The exhibition was opened by Deputy Head of the General Staff of Serbia Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic. He reminded that “the heart of an SAF soldier beats for all people, for all those that live in this country that the soldier limitlessly loves and respects, and particularly for those that are in need of help and support”.
- Help is often most needed by those who do not ask for it due to their dignity and humility. It is these people that Lieutenant Colonel Simonovic dedicated this exhibition and this is why his nobility deserves our recognition tonight - Deputy Head of the General Staff of Serbia stated.
