Fostering military traditions of Serbia and France



Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic met today with Jean-Marc Todeschini, Secretary of State for former combatants and historical events of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of France.

Неговање војничких традиција Србије и ФранцускеDuring the meeting, they exchanged practices in fostering and preserving military traditions and opinions on the current political security situation in the region and the world, which once again confirmed the historical friendship between the two people, intertwined with tumultuous history.

The two secretaries of state agreed that the most significant joint activities in the future period will be dedicated to marking the centenary of the Great War. To this effect, activities are planned for marking the centenary of the end of the Great War in 2018 and of the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front, and they also agreed that Serbian-French commemorative ceremonies in Zajecar should continue being organized.

Secretary of State Djordjevic introduced his French colleague with the Program of activities for marking the centenary of the Great War, stressing that the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia represent the pillar of fostering Serbian military tradition, and that they dignifiedly mark all important dates and anniversaries, in cooperation with other organizations.

The strategic partnership between the two countries dates since 2011, and joint deployment in multinational operations is the pinnacle of cooperation in the field of defence of the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, they agreed on participation of two representatives of the ministries of defence at international conferences in Serbia and Franc that will be dedicated to the Great War.
