Marking of the International Women's Day in the Serbian Armed Forces
The 8th March – Women's Day was marked in the units of the Serbian Armed Forces with appropriate ceremonies and visits to cultural institutions.Female members of the River Flotilla visited according to their wish the Flag Ship of the River Flotilla Kozara, anchored in Belgrade, at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. Members of the Second River Detachment and commanding officer of the ship Lieutenant Commander Dusan Ristic, made the socializing on the occasion of 8th March, for several dozens of women from the Novi Sad Aleksandar Beric barracks, pontoneer battalion from Sabac and Usce anchorage to remain in their best memories.
On the occasion of the International Women's Day, at the Training Command HQ, a reception for all female colleagues was organized where the Commander of the Training Command Major General Djokica Petrovic addressed them with appropriate speech.
Command of the Central Logistics Base organized for the female members of Belgrade garrison visit to the Military Museum on the occasion of the International Women's Day, and the Head of the Military Museum Colonel Dragan Radenkovic expressed his satisfaction that this institution was able to embellish this holiday for the female members of the Central Logistics Base.
Women at the Ministry of Defence account for nearly one-fifth of the employees, and in the Serbian Armed Forces female members account for around 10 per cent of all the personnel.
The International Women's Day, or, colloquially, 8th March, is the day dedicated to women and is celebrated every year on that date as a day of struggle for economic, political and social equality between women and men. It was adopted as the International Women's Day, 8 March, in 1917, and the United Nations officially started to mark the International Women's Day in 1975.
