New issue of ODBRANA
In Serbia, until the beginning of the Second World War, there were about 100,000 Jews, among whom just over 30,000 of them lived in the territory of Vojvodina. The Jewish Community in Belgrade had about ten thousand members. Members of the Jewish communities, Ashkenazi and Sephardic, shared the good and evil with their neighbours. Many of them took part in the Great War, they crossed Albania alongside the Serbian people, while others helped the Serbian Army out of the front, as traders or diplomats. The Holocaust changed their centuries long life together in many ways suddenly and cruelly. You can read about harrowing testimonies of crimes against Jews in Belgrade, apart from other things, in the new 227th issue of "Odbrana" of 1 March.
