Lecture on international security to the participants in Advanced Security and Defence Studies

In the premises of the Advanced Security and Defence Studies building, representative of the Marshall Centre, Dr. Ralf Roloff gave the participants the lecture on "International Security - global governance and the future of power".

On this occasion, Dr. Roloff reflected on the security challenges faced by the UN, OSCE, NATO and the EU in the 21st century in the context of the complexity of the modern world and global governance. He also analysed how the interdependence, as a characteristic of the modern world, reflects on global security, which is becoming an increasingly important topic.

Having that in mind, in the context of his today's lecture, Dr. Roloff gave special attention to the complexity of that interdependence, suggesting that globalization and regionalization are often not matched, while globalization is an uneven process, which certainly creates additional problems in the field of security.

According to him, the natural resources of the Earth, such as the oceans, atmosphere and cyberspace, do not belong to anyone, but everybody needs to use them. Governments need to control them, and in this case the non-globalised countries become a problem, Dr. Roloff stressed, illustrating that assertion on the example of Somalia.
