Serbian defence industry attracts much interest

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic attended today the Opening Ceremony of the 12th International Defence Exhibition and Conference IDEX 2015, dedicated to military technologies and innovation in Abu Dhabi. On that occasion, he pointed out that the bilateral meetings he had were great indicator of great interest of foreign companies in the Serbian defence industry.

He noted that the joint project of Serbia and the United Arab Emirates - ALAS C has attracted much attention at the exhibition.

"It gives me great pleasure that I am present today at one of the most prestigious international fairs of arms and military equipment, where the Serbian defence industry has such a prominent role", Gasic said to Tanjug after visiting the booth of Yugoimort SDPR.

Gasic also said that the number of bilateral meetings he had with defence ministers of Italy, Indonesia, Pakistan and Iraq are an indicator of the interest of foreign companies in the Serbian defence industry products.

"We expect also this evening to have a meeting with the hosts, because what ties us together with the United Arab Emirates are projects, primarily ALAS project, that also has great popularity and a large number of visitors wants to see it," Gasic said.

Gasic is on a four-day visit to Abu Dhabi at the invitation of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.
