Seminar on gender perspective in military operations



Семинар о родној перспективи у војним операцијамаThe seminar “Gender equality in military operations” for participants of the General Staff Course was organized at the Center for Peacekeeping Operations, and the importance of implementing gender perspective into military operations was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Jan Dunmurray and Major Linda Johanssons from the Nordic Center for Gender in Military Operations (NCGM). The participants were also addressed by Colonel Marko Zelenovic, Head of the General Staff Course and Dr. Jovanka Saranovic, Advisor to Minister of Defence for Gender Equality.

The seminar presented practical aspects related to operation planning, lessons learned from the Swedish Armed Forces, and the importance of leadership for integration of gender perspective on all levels.

NCGM Center is a part of the International Center of the Swedish Armed Forces appointed by NATO in Семинар о родној перспективи у војним операцијама2013 as the contacting institution whose duty is to council NATO members and international organizations such as UN about implementation of gender perspective in education and training, with the goal of increasing operative efficiency of all UN and NATO operations and missions.

The seminar was organized in the course of UNDP SEESAC project gender equality in military: Strengthening regional cooperation in implementation of gender perspective in the reform of security sector in the Western Balkans. The project is implemented in close cooperation with ministries of defence and armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Serbia.
