Handover of keys to 24 new apartments

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic handed over today at the Great Warrior Hall keys to 24 apartments to members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia. According to the Minister, the new beginning in the apartments is the confirmation that everything is solvable, with great will and work.

- In the past two years, we have provided homes for over 1300 members of the defence system. We are aware that there is a lot of work ahead of us, that the lists are still long, but rest assured – your material and social security are our priority. Take care of your home and your loved ones, just as you have taken care of your state and your people. The state will keep taking care of you – Minister of Defence said.

Responding to press inquiries, Minister pointed out the negotiations with the Construction Direction of Serbia at “Aleksa Dunduc” barracks in Zemun and the exchange worth around 12 million euros. Moreover, according to the Minister, negotiations are in progress about certain locations in Belgrade and 250 apartments in “Stepa”.

- We have allocated around 200 million dinars in our budget for purchase of apartments for members of the

defence system in Gornji Milanovac, Pozarevac, Kraljevo and places where there is no property exchange as in the capital and in Novi Sad. Furthermore, significant budgetary means have been allocated for bank loans for resolution of the residential issue for members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia, which is around another 500 million for 2015. Therefore, this year, we are planning to hand over around 500 apartments to members of the defence system – Minister of Defence stressed.

The key handover was also attended by Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic, Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic with members of the Collegium, families and friends of the members of the defence system.
