New dimensions of cooperation in the field of defence with Hungary
The third bilateral defence consultations between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Hungary were held in Budapest. During the consultations, Heads of Departments for International Military Cooperation Colonel Milan Konjikovac and Peter Gila stated that the recent meeting of Ministers of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Csaba Hende had confirmed mutual commitment to further improvement of cooperation.
Colonel Konjikovac stressed that cooperation in the field of defence fully follows the overall relations between the two countries which are characterized by intensive political dialogue and high level of understanding. He thanked for the support that Hungary has given Serbia in the process of Euro integrations, and for the professional relation of members of the Hungarian forces deployed in KFOR in Kosovo and Metohija.
Joint deployment in multinational operation in Cyprus is the pinnacle of cooperation and trust, while the traditional joint military exercises contribute to improving operative and functional capabilities of the armed forces of the two countries, Colonel Konjikovac stressed. He conveyed the readiness of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia to make a substantial step towards establishing military economic cooperation.
Peter Gila stressed that the quality of cooperation is particularly seen in participation in bilateral military exercises “Iron Cat” and “Neighbors”, and in multinational exercises such as “Brave Warrior” and “Capable Logistician”. New fields of cooperation, such as cooperation of the two universities and cooperation of the Center for training and education of non-commissioned officers and the Academy for Noncommissioned Officers of the Armed Forces of Hungary give a new dimension to cooperation in the field of defence.
During the visit, a meeting was also arranged with Head of the Sector for development of military equipment of the Ministry of Defence of Hungary Brigadier General Istvan Filotas.
At the end of the meeting, the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2015 was composed and signed.
