President Nikolic spoke with General Dikovic
President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic and Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic discussed the readiness of the Armed Forces of Serbia and further steps of its modernization in Belgrade today.
Looking back on the recently repeated attacks on the Head of the General Staff, the President of the Republic said that General Dikovic is an honorable officer and that these attacks clearly represent an attempt to discredit and destabilize the Armed Forces of Serbia and to humiliate everything good that has been done in Serbia in the past two and a half years.
“The Armed Forces is definitely an institution that enjoys the greatest support of its citizens. It has established great cooperation with all armed forces in the world; its members that are deployed in international missions in numerous countries have achieved nothing but great results. We must not forget how much our Armed Forces contributed to rescuing the property and lives of people during the last year’s disastrous floods in Serbia. This is precisely why it is clear that this insidious campaign against the Armed Forces of Serbia that began last year after the grand parade on the occasion of 70 years since the liberation of Belgrade in WWII will not succeed in shaking the citizens’ trust in their Armed Forces”, President Nikolic said.
The President added that it is obvious that there are certain circles whose interest is not in having Serbia be a modern, developed state and that mourn for the times when corruption and autocracy bloomed, since this had been the environment most suitable for them, while the citizens lived increasingly worse. This is why they wish to cause instability in Serbia by all means and to bring it back to the chaos from which it has started emerging. This is precisely the purpose of the orchestrated attacks on many state institutions, and now, on the Armed Forces of Serbia. The President also said that the citizens of Serbia can be at ease, because our country has embarked on the path of reforms and that no one’s campaigns and selfish motives will stop it on that path.
