Meeting of State Secretary Djordjevic and Deputy US Ambassador



Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic spoke today with Deputy US Ambassador Gordon Duguid.

During the talks, Djordjevic stressed that Euro integrations, development of cooperation with all key actors of the international community and development of regional cooperation are the key foreign policy goals of Serbia.

It has been stated that bilateral military cooperation is still the most developed and best part of overall relations between Serbia and US. Key fields include participation in international exercises, State Partnership Program with the National Guard of Ohio, education and further training of staff, modernization and procuring new equipment. Djordjevic and Duguid agreed that continuation of cooperation on the project of South base is of extreme importance.

In the course of the meeting, mention was also given to the upcoming visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defence to NATO headquarters in Brussels for the adoption of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), which is the highest level of cooperation with a partnership country that has not opted for NATO membership.

They stressed the importance of the project of Humanitarian Assistance for improvement of overall relations between the two countries. In the course of this project, this year, members of the Armed Forces of Serbia and the National Guard of Ohio will renovate one preschool institution “Nasa radost” and one school for elementary musical education on the territory of the Municipality of Bujanovac.
