Minister of Defence meets Ambassador of Algeria

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic received Ambassador of Algeria Abdelkader Mesdoua in a farewell visit and thanked him for his contribution to the development of relations between the two countries and cooperation in the field of defence.

The Defence Minister pointed out that Serbia highly appreciates the principled support of Algeria when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija. Bratislav Gasic also expressed gratitude for the assistance and donation provided by this country after the last year's floods.

Gasic and Mesdoua agreed that cooperation in the field of defence intensified. They underlined that the cooperation has been improved in the fields of military economy and military education and that there is room for enhancing the military-military, scientific-technical and military medical cooperation.

In 2014, ten Algerian officers participated in courses organised at the CBRN Personnel Training Centre in Krusevac. According to announcements, seven military doctors and five engineers will arrive to study in Serbia this month.

Bratislav Gasic said that the Ministry of Defence, on behalf of the Serbian Government, supports the participation of the Serbian companies in Algeria.

Gasic and Mesdua also discussed the upcoming visit of the Serbian Minister of Defence to Algeria which is scheduled for the first quarter of this year.
