Minister Gasic and General Dikovic visited Medevce base



Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic visited SAF members at Medevce base in the Ground security zone.

Accompanied by Army Commander Major General Milosav Simovic and Third Army Brigade Commander Brigadier General Zelimir Glisovic, they were presented with tasks of units in the Ground security zone, the orientation, tasks of Medevci base and objects where the staff is situated.

After the talks with the representatives of the Armed Forces of Serbia, Minister Gasic stated that there is nothing better that visiting the heroes of Serbia in the first year of the New Year.

- People at this base are the heroes from the floods and snow storms, and they guard the administrative line from wrongdoers. I am pleased to have been with those who were on call tonight to share the pleasure, discuss further plans and convey great respect and gratitude for their courage and dedication. It is not easy being always exposed to -21 degrees temperature and thinking about your families – Minister of Defence said.

He added that talks about improving the life of soldiers, their material and social status are always current, stressing that the 2015 Budget of the Armed Forces of Serbia is larger than the previous one and that “it will be cleverly used because of the military and for the military”.

General Dikovic said that the state in the Ground security zone is stable and that SAF members, together with members of the Ministry of Interior, manage to fully control the situation.

- We are fully supported in this by KFOR forces. There are also certain security challenges whose intensity does not require other actions, measures and steps. The state is stable thanks to all of those who conduct tasks in this security zone – General Dikovic stressed.

Medevce base is located near Medvedja, in the Ground security zone along the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija. Members of the Third Army Brigade are deployed there.
