Members of the defence system received keys to 43 apartments



Припадницима система одбране уручени кључеви 43 станаMinister of Defence Bratislav Gasic handed over today at the Grand Warrior Hall keys to 43 apartments to MoD and SAF members located in Bezanijska Kosa, residential area Stepa Stepanovic, New Belgrade, Cukarica and Old City. The ceremony was also attended by Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic with members of the collegium, and families and friends of the members of the defence system that were handed the keys.

Congratulating the attendants the upcoming holidays, Minister Gasic stressed that the new practice at the Ministry is that, at the end of each day, what had been achieved that day must be visible, and this day begins with key handover to members of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia that begin the new year with their residential issue resolved.

- For you, this means a new beginning and the chance to have a more carefree view of a better tomorrow with your families. For us, it is an incentive to continue working and to resolve the residential issue of our other members as well, 12,500 of them – Minister of Defence said, adding that 1300 members of the defence system had been given homes in the past two years, which significantly reduced the list.

According to him, the next year is also expected to bring a lot of work, because material security of members of the defence system is the priority.

- We always do what we say. If you ask me why, the answer is simple – a military is as strong as its each member. Take care of your homes and your loved ones, as you have so far taken care of your people, and the state of you – Minister of Defence stated.

Припадницима система одбране уручени кључеви 43 станаAnswering press inquiries, Minister Gasic stressed that resolving the residential issueof members of the defency system is a priority; that the apartments are located at the product project Bezanijska Kosa which had begun in 1986, and thatthere are 200 apartments left at the location. According to him, an exchange of goods is underway at Zemun location, and an extensive commission is planned to conduct a research on how many apartments and how much property the Armed Forces of Serbia have, all with the goal of resolving the remaining residential issues.

When asked about the budget for the next year, Minister Gasic said that the budget of the Armed Forces of Serbia is not smaller, but larger than in 2014, because the Fund for Social Insurance of Military Insured (SOVO) had been separated from the system. As he added, introduction of another two referral deadlines for voluntary military service and its duration of six months are under consideration. As Minister Gasic announced, for the next year, it is planned to equip one military service.
