Ministers Gasic and Udovicic announced the second stage of construction of the athletics hall

On the occasion of the planned announcement of the tender for the second stage of construction of athletics hall at the Military Academy, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic visited the object under construction.

Minister of Defence confirmed that, after a short stop in the realization of the project, significant steps had been made and certain conclusions reached by the Government in order for this process to continue.

- A managing team has been formed, which will manage all investments that will be realized here until the finishing stage which should take place in early 2016 – Gasic stressed, confirming that all further steps and procedures have been agreed on with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in order to successfully prepare for organization of the Athletic Championship in 2016.

Minister Udovicic thanked the Ministry of Defence on their understanding and engagement in finishing the athletics hall and stressed that, after the end of the first stage of works, documentation will be prepared for announcing public procurements for the second stage.

- The Ministry of Youth and Sports, or, more precisely, the Government of the Republic of Serbia, have allocated 198 million dinars in 2015 for the first part of the second stage to be finished, and in 2016, the final payment of 150 million dinars will take place, when the investment will be completely finished – Udovicic stressed, adding that this project is a testimony of very good cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and The Ministry of Youth and Sports. Udovicic confirmed that the hall will be available not only for professional sportsmen and SAF members, but will also be adapted for recreational activities and disabled persons.

The new complex of the athletics hall is located at a part of the barracks in Banjica, and it includes the hall, arranged public surface and parking lot for visitors and employees. Right next to the complex is an open sports field for athletics which rounds off the linking of these two contents in the function of athletic disciplines. The facility is completely adjusted to the needs of future users of the Military Academy and the Athletic Federation of Serbia.
